Games Well with
the recent adverse weather conditions and a couple of no turn
ups we really haven't played since the beginning of August. However
our most recent games against Beenleigh and Southern Bay although
overall very good games both had their feisty moments to say the
least.

Mini-Fest. The mini-fest this year was a great
success with 15 teams attending from all over SEQ and a contingent
from our Wellington 2006 friends Te Puke. Everything went like
clockwork and regardless of whether playing or otherwise everyone
clearly had a good time. I think its safe to say we have learn't
a few lessons in recent years in how to organise this event so
much so that we were able to make a nice little profit. Thanks
to all organisers, workers and participants. Mini-fest

Fiji. To my knowledge this is the first tour
in which wives/partners were actively encouraged to participate
and judging by its success it won't be the last. From the onset
everyone enthusiastically went about making this a trip to remember.
A big thank to our Fijian hosts for giving us a game that wouldn't
wqsn't too strenuous and we all managed to get through unscathed
Fiji, Sevens style rugby played at pace, metaphorically speaking
considering that most of us are pushing 50. We also managed to
get a bit of sightseeing including a trip into the hinterland
including swimming under water falls and cava, a trip out around
the islands including snorkelling on the reefs. There was even
time to take in a local game which ended when the local constabulary
had to intervene between the two sides and a spot of shopping
for the ladies. Needless to say there was time to take in some
liquid refreshments and what for some was the highlight watching
the Wallabies trounce the All Blacks in the early hours. Thanks
to all our new friends and the staff at the Smugglers Cove for
making our stay a most enjoyable and eventful experience.
Under 10's Green. SBGO are proud sponsors of
the Sunnybank Under 10's Green team. On Sunday 10th June some
of the more senior members of our club took time out to support
and cheer on the lads. The youngsters put in a stirring effort
against the Souths boys and we were more than mpressed by the
skill levels, organisation and effort displayed by the team. We
look forward to giving our continued support.
